The Department participates in the system-wide Education Abroad Program offered by the University of California, providing longer-term study (from one quarter to one year) at a participating foreign university. Opportunities for study in Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries are available in many countries, including Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Salvador), Spain (Madrid), Mexico (Mexico City). Students may also explore options offered through the non-UC-affiliated International Studies Abroad program. 

In addition, the Department organizes summer Travel Study Programs in Spain (Granada and Barcelona), Mexico (Merida), and Brazil (Salvador):
