Free film screening of SAMBIZANGA (in Portuguese with English subtitles) at the Billy Wilder Theater inside the Hammer Museum

Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:30pm the Film & Television Archive department is screening SAMBIZANGA (in Portuguese with English subtitles) at the Billy Wilder Theater inside the Hammer Museum.

Director Sarah Maldoror confronts the cruelty of the colonial system through this gripping story of a woman who
seeks the release of her husband, a political prisoner. The French-born, African diasporic filmmaker co-founded
France’sfirst Black theater troupe and helmed over two dozen films.

Guest speakers: Annouchka de Andrade, Maldoror’s daughter, and UCLA Associate Professor Ellen Scott.
