Students in the Dept of Spanish & Portuguese are encouraged to submit an essay written for one of our courses for the opportunity to win a $250 scholarship!
Deadline: Friday, May 7th, 2021 end-of-day
(Friday of Week 6)
The Categories are:
1.- Richard Reeve Essay Prize— Essay on Spanish American literature or culture (written in Spanish or English)
2.- José Rubia Barcia Essay Prize— Essay on Spanish Literature (written in Spanish or English)
3.- The Randal Johnson Essay Prize —Essay on Luso-Brazilian literature, film or culture (written in English or Portuguese)
4.- The Claudia Parodi Essay Prize — Essay in Spanish Linguistics (written in Spanish or English)
5.- Dolores Huerta Community Service Award – Essay and/or portfolio written only for the following courses SPAN M165XP, SPAN 172XP and SPAN/PORTGSE 195 (written in English, Spanish or Portuguese) This inaugural award will be presented by Dolores Huerta.

The winner of each category will receive a $250 scholarship, recognition on our website, and award presentation at our End of the Year Online Celebration Ceremony on Saturday, June 12th, 2021.
