Research
I am interested in studying how Guatemalan historical memory is constructed through different forms of visual culture, particularly through (street) art installations, film, and performances. Recently, I have been looking into Guatemalan huipiles and backstrap loom weaving. More specifically, I am exploring how weaving is an embodied practice that tells stories and transmits memory, and how the textile itself functions as a living archive and “text.” Secondarily, I love learning about Spain, from the medieval period until the 21st Century, with particular interest in Spanish Civil War memory through film and graphic novels.
